100 "Smart Cities" in India

The leaders welcomed the recent convening of the Joint Working Group on Sustainable Urban Development that would serve as a forum to help identify three cities for bilateral collaboration. Among the priority areas identified by the Prime Minister for close collaboration with Germany are those relating to renewable energy, water management, urban waste management and energy efficiency. The intensification of high-level engagement would provide new opportunities for German companies in the urban development sector offered by India's initiative on 100 Smart Cities.

The aim of the conference:
- Highlight the progress, initiatives and policies of the Indian smart cities.
- Present the Indo-German working group on Sustainable Urban Development.
- Create a platform for dialogue and exchange of information, share knowledge, support technology, innovation, experience and best practices in the area of smart cities.
- Attract potential investment in Indian Smart Cities Projects.
