Two key strategic visions for keeping city living attractive are ensuring sustainable urban development and preserving quality of life. Against this background, eBuses are becoming increasingly widespread. A growing number of cities and municipalities are turning to electric buses and trying out various models.
Smart, modern public transit systems ensure the fundamental right to mobility, while minimizing negative environmental impacts such as pollutants, noise or wasteful use of urban living spaces.
Trolleybus systems are a tried and true technology to achieve these goals. They offer the same advantages for urban design as a light rail system, but can be implemented significantly faster. Myths and realities of eBus systems, an overview at the fifth international eBus Conference.
Trolleybus systems exist all over the world. Some 40,000 vehicles are in operation in around 300 cities, across 47 different countries including Russia, Canada, Ecuador, Mexico, New Zealand, China, Greece and in Eastern European countries.
