The responsibilities of receiving and integrating refugees have been a source of major challenges for municipalities around Germany since 2015. Key issues both now and in the future include initial accommodation, permanent housing, social integration, access to language training and education, and medium and long-term integration into the labor market. This year’s Metropolitan Solutions Conference is therefore offering an expert symposium for discussion on these issues. Experts and front-line providers are invited to partner with representatives of municipalities to map out solutions to the challenges that lie ahead. The main focus will be on the development of municipal action plans and strategies. The symposium is an opportunity for delegates to generate synergies for their respective communities through knowledge networking, mutual consultation and shared innovation.
