Mobility issues are becoming more and more important for communities. Traffic control, traffic management, navigation, parking and the selection of a transportation carrier are no longer conceivable without advanced information and communication technology.
Providers of mobility services use the Internet to identify needs and to bring suppliers and consumers together on platforms. Municipalities that want to lead the way on the mobility issue must stay continually informed about the latest developments.
The European telematics association TelematicsPRO has set the goal of honoring municipalities that make investments with a lasting impact in innovative transportation technologies even in a difficult economic environment.
Counties and cities that have installed smart telematic services in the transportation sector or operate them efficiently today are honored, together with the leading municipal organizations – the German Association of Cities and Towns (DST), the Association of German Counties, and the German Association of Towns and Communities (DStGB) – as well as the Federal Association for Information Technology (BITKOM).
The nominated organizations will be presented on 9 April at Metropolitan Solutions 2014 in Hannover, Germany.
