From 8 to 12 April, 140 companies presented the latest sustainable urban development concepts and technologies as well as a wide range of best-practice solutions for urban infrastructures at the first-ever stand-alone Metropolitan Solutions fair.
Visitors to the “City of the Future” got a taste of the world’s urban future before they even set foot in the exhibition hall – they were picked up and brought to the Metropolitan Solutions fair by a fleet of electric vehicles. The innovative tradeshow concept behind this year’s Metropolitan Solutions fair was extremely well received by the visitors.
This year’s Metropolitan Solutions Forum was organized in collaboration with the ICLEI, the world’s leading association of cities and local governments, which used the Forum as a platform for its Global Town Hall events. The program included high-level discussion of different infrastructure solutions, the political and planning challenges involved in implementing and financing sustainable urban development projects. Another key event at Metropolitan Solutions 2013 was the “better transport forum,” which covered a wide range of potential future mobility concepts.
This year’s Metropolitan Solutions fair featured a wide range of solutions for core urban infrastructures, such as energy, mobility and climate, water and environmental protection. The show’s success is rooted in the strong demand for knowledge transfer and discussion that results from highly complex national and local-level decision making structures.
Russia, the official Partner Country of this year’s HANNOVER MESSE, was represented by the Moscow City Government, Moscow Oblast and the cities of St. Petersburg and Kaluga.
